Like so many charities, The Sand House Charity has seen its income decline greatly since the COVID-19 pandemic. Our overheads are very modest and our smaller outgoings are often paid by one or other of our trustees, to avoid burdening the charity. Even so, our unavoidable costs (e.g. insurance) amount to several hundred pounds each year.

A regular donation of just a few pounds each month will make a huge difference to The Sand House Charity. Even just £3 per month is a significant sum for us. If you like what we do and if you think our work is worthwhile, perhaps you would consider making a regular donation, please? To do so, click on the <Donate> button below and select “Make this a monthly donation”. We would be immensely grateful. Thank you.

Another way in which you could help us, without sending us any money yourself, is to join Easyfundraising.  Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for The Sand House Charity with easyfundraising? There are over 8,000 retailers on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis & Partners, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds. All you need to do is:

1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/thesandhousecharity/ and join for free.

2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.

3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to The Sand House Charity at no extra cost to you whatsoever!

There are no catches or hidden charges and The Sand House Charity will be really grateful for your donations. Thank you for your support.

Background

Since its formation in 2017, The Sand House Charity has achieved a great deal. It has staged a major exhibition; produced a brand-new, sell-out play, including an audio version; presented in-person and online talks for adults and children; led guided walks; run pop-up sand art sessions: and curated a comprehensive display for Doncaster’s Danum Gallery, Library and Museum. These are in addition to regularly sharing educational material about the Sand House on social media and continuing the ongoing process of researching the Victorian marvel that inspired the charity. All this has been managed by a group of unpaid volunteers, covering the charity’s overheads from money donated at talks, walks and other events. Your support would be invaluable. Thank you.

The Charity

The Sand House Charity was registered with the Charity Commission on 02 March 2017 (Reg. No.1171875). The Patron of The Sand House Charity is the eminent Doncaster-born concert pianist, Matthew Schellhorn. The charity is run entirely by volunteers, with no paid staff.
